From life to canvas - Transforming a real life photo into a work of art

Start by opening an image of a old lady with face closeup.

Switch to channel palette. Duplicate the red channel layer.

Press Ctrl+L to open level settings. Apply settings as shown.

Ctrl+Click the channel layer to get the selection.

Back to layer palette. Press Ctrl+J to copy paste the selection in a new layer.
